"A Christmas Carol" Hollywood and British studios have tried many times with this story of ghosts and transformation in the Victorian snow. Micky Mouse and the Muppets have versions too. And there is also a Barbie version - tricky since the female parts in the story are minor.

Black & White movies were made when Hollywood and Radio ruled in entertainment. TV was still to come.
Hollywood and the rest of the world had to use talent, acting, directing, editing TALENT that had to work hard to make the audience forget they were watching in black & white on a flat screen and often with streaks and imperfection on screen. The limits of the technology seems to have brought out the best in story telling and acting a like.
We have also had the time to forget the quota quickies the B movies and remember the best that they had. No doubt helped by some big stars who made it to the clor cinemascope days.

Is the Coca-cola ad your favorite Christmas film? “Holidays are coming, holidays are coming” goes the jingle. The countryside covered in snow. The string of red trucks, all outlined in Christmas lights, on the road. For me seeing that advert is the start of the pre-Christmas season.
